AFTER A WEEK IN CHINA…

I learned a lot…and it confirmed much of what I knew from friends and prior travel there.  Visits to Shanghai and Beijing confirmed just how much those cities have grown over the past decade or two.  Shanghai is amazing in its buildings, architecture and visual impact.  I told someone it looks like a city done in a collaboration between Disney and the Wizard of Oz…  NYC and Hong Kong pale by comparison…  BUT--you still can't drink the water, or use ice made from it--and even residents often boil the tap water before using it to drink, or to prepare food.  We are so spoiled, living here in the USA…clean water, clean bathrooms, and our "freedom," which we all take for granted far too much.  The Chinese are industrious people.  They are, in that respect a lot like Americans of a century or more ago.  That was when America climbed out of the ashes of WWII into world supremacy.  China was once the most powerful, advanced nation in the world, circa 1000-1400 AD.  Only time and events will tell if it reclaims that position or if Americans "wake up" and wrestle it away from China--to hold onto  the premier spot in the wortd.

CHINA SURPASSES THE USA IN MANUFACTURING OUTPUT

In case you have not heard or read this, the manufacturing output of China recently surpassed that of the USA.  Some of you may think this happened a long time ago, but it didn't.  It just happened during the past months, in late 2011.   China is also struggling with all of the challenges of a developing country.  Labor costs are climbing fast.  Labor unrest is increasing.  Pollution and other health related issues are large and growing.  Skilled labor shortages exist, especially in the coastal areas that are the most advanced in the kind of work being done.  The government has actively pushed lower skilled manufacturing further into the country, where labor is available, but skilled labor is not.  It wants skilled labor to do the higher value added kind of work.  In the USA, as many as 500,000 skilled jobs are going unfilled, while tens of millions of Americans remain unemployed.  They are either in the wrong place, have the wrong skills, or have become so reliant on the "nanny state" government of Barack Obama that they have no incentive, no motivation to work.  That is a horrible thought.

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS STILL THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD--BUT OUR CURRENT GOVERNMENT LEADERS ARE JEOPARDIZING THAT.

Leadership means taking people to places they'd be afraid to go alone--and going along.  it means getting people of different ideas, perspective and opinions to find common ground and understand that collaboration for the greater good, and consensus are built around the willingness to compromise--to meet the other guy part way. Nobody is so smart to be right all the time, and maybe not even the majority of the time, but when the leader isolates himself, holds himself as better than, smarter than and superior to everyone else--well, that is just a bad leader.   Europe is showing us the error of the socialist, secular state form of governments.  The statists there are destroying Europe from the inside out.  Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland are all in dire straits financially--its just a matter of degree who is worst off.  France is on its way to join them. Germany and the UK are holding out and the other countries in the North of Europe and Scandinavia are trying to stay as far from the mess as they can. However, since they are all part of the Euro-based EU, they will be harmed by the mistakes of their neighbors.  The question is:  Is anyone in Washington, DC paying attention?  I hope so.  I know Mitt Romney "gets it."  I think John Boehner and some of the members of the House (and Senate) do too.  Will they prevail in November?  I sure hope so!

It is abhorrent that such a person could have been elected president and should give every American pause and concern.

Under Barack Obama Social Security has become insolvent and cannot pay its obligations, Medicare has become so short of funds that it denies the simple medical procedure Julia needs, which would have saved her life, because she has grown too old and is a bad risk.  Julia's child has nothing to live on, since welfare funds are depleted, unemployment in the USA is now at 22%, and the "Death Tax" was increased to help reduce the $25 trillion deficit, and itt now takes the vast majority of what Julia was trying to accumulate to pass on to her child.  

Rebellion in the cities has grown to epic proportions and Julia's child is now afraid to go out of the street for fear of being robbed, murdered, or arrested by Obamapolice for breaking curfew (Michelle Obama became president after Hillary Clinton's second term, and stepped up police measures against all Americans, but especially those who are not part of protected minorities.  Mitt Romney was imprisoned for sedition (under the new presidential finding/mandate) and treason (for disagreeing with and ridiculing the sitting president), during Barack Obama's second term--for the things he said during the presidential campaign of 2012.

The Iran/Middle Eastern and Chinese/North Korean alliances now rule the world, under the threat of pin-point nuclear attacks from satellite mounted weapons.

NOW THE OBAMA SYMPATHIZERS IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ARE DIGGING UP PREP SCHOOL STUFF TO CRITICIZE ROMNEY

When will they dig up Obama's communist and terrorist friends, black militant preacher, and convicted felon financiers?  We didn't even have to look hard to make a list of Obama's background dirt when writing our book.  I wonder if they found the dirt in Obama's background.  It's only in his books where he talks about walking around in a daze during his high school days, using drugs, etc.  There are also bullying incidents in way back past.

Worse than that, are the character shaping, and indisputable facts that Barack Obama (as a youth and even in later years) enjoyed associating with radicals, terrorists, hate mongers and mob criminals. What is not yet clear and indisputable is whether he actually meets the presidential requirements of being a natural born American.  Nobody who knows anything (except Obama's loyalists) accepts the forged birth certificate used last time around. 

When will the "mainstream media lackeys" rediscover that crap--and actually report the truth--the facts. 

And as far as Obama's suggestion that Romney should reveal all of his past tax returns, how about Obama revealing where he got the money and influence to get into Columbia and Harvard…and while we're at it, how about opening up Michelle's Master's Thesis too?

BUT HERE'S WHY BARACK OBAMA WILL BE SO HARD TO BEAT IN NOVEMBER. (UNLESS YOU BELIEVE DICK MORRIS--SEE BELOW)

The red states are where Romney will have an edge.  The blue states are nearly locks for Obama.  The white states are where it will be decided.  BUT--notice that IF this is even close to accurate on states where he has an edge, Obama only needs to accumulate about 30 electoral votes to win it.  Scary?  You bet.  Perhaps some of the "blue states" can be swung away from Obama.  It will take an "all hands on deck" effort.  That is why Dave and I wrote  HOPE IS NOT A STRATEGY!  Making money on the book was secondary in our minds, to getting Obama out of the White House!  

SO PLEASE…GO TO AMAZON.COM, BUY COPIES OF HOPE IS NOT A STRATEGY GIVE THEM TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND ANYONE ELSE YOU THINK IS "MODERATE" …

If you have a strong connection to any campaign organization that can benefit from this book, we are willing to price it as cheaply as possible for them.  They can use it to sell and raise funds, or to give away as a campaign tool.  Since it is "our book" we could also do special editions if the volume justified the cost of re-creating the files.  (On Kindle it's cheap and easy.  In a printed book, not so cheap or easy.)  Find places to give the book as a gift or a favor to help swing voters. (We are using almost everything we make in royalties to buy more books and send them to such people and organizations.

IS THE US ECONOMY REALLY RECOVERING?  HOW ARE BUSINESSES DOING?  HOW ARE CONSUMERS FEELING?

This could be a continuous topic.  The latest info from BIGisight.com show that consumer confidence in the economy fell off to just under 33%.  The Obama "Recovery" continues to struggle under his campaigning instead of governing.

LEADERS FACE THE TOUGHEST ISSUES, DEAL WITH THEM AND FIX THEM

Is Barack Obama dealing with the struggling economy, the insolvent entitlements and the astonishing deficits?  If he is, it's not evident.  Some will ask "Will Mitt Romney do any better?"  To them I say, "Can he do much worse?"  And "Who has a better track record over his career of fixing struggling entities?"   No president is a "miracle worker" but it is now clear after 3-½ years that this one is far from it.  IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE!  In the Senate too!

A Romney Landslide

If the election were held today, Mitt Romney would win by a landslide.

The published polls reflect a close race for two reasons:

 

1. They poll only registered voters, not likely voters. Rasmussen is the only pollster who tests likely voters, and his latest tracking poll has Romney ahead by 48-43.

2. As discussed in previous columns, a study of the undecided voters in the past eight elections in which incumbents sought a second term as president reveals that only Bush-43 gained any of the undecided vote. Johnson in ’64, Nixon in ’72, Ford in ’76, Carter in ’80, Reagan in ’84, Bush in ’92 and Clinton in ’96 all failed to pick up a single undecided vote.

So when polls show President Obama at 45 percent of the vote, they are really reflecting a likely 55-45 Romney victory, at the very least.

Gallup has amassed over 150,000 interviews over all of 2011 and compared them with a like number in 2010. It finds that Obama has a better than 50 percent job approval in only 10 states and the District of Columbia. And his approval has dropped in almost every single state. Even in California, it has fallen from 55 percent in 2010 to 
50.5 percent in 2011.

Over the period of May 4-6, I completed a poll of 400 likely voters in Michigan and found Romney leading by 45-43! And Michigan is one of the most pro-Democrat of the swing states.

I also found that Obama’s personal favorability, which has usually run about 10 to 20 points higher than his job approval, is now equal to his job rating. In Michigan, his personal favorability among likely voters is 47-47, while his job rating is 50-48. Romney’s favorability is 49-42.

Obama’s crashing personal favorability reflects the backlash from his recent speeches. In substance, their focus on class warfare and their bombastic, demagogic style are not playing well with the voters. They do not seem in the least presidential.

Nor does his message of attacking Big Oil seem constructive. Voters all distrust Big Oil and would rather see them get punished, but they do not see in repealing their tax breaks a way of lowering prices at the pump or of increasing the supply of oil.

Obama’s trip to Afghanistan looks like grandstanding, and his insinuation that Romney would never have launched the strike looks like a low partisan blow.

Obama cannot summon the commitment he got in 2008 by negatives or partisanship. It was precisely to change the “toxic” atmosphere in Washington that he was elected. To fan it now is not the way to regain the affection of those who have turned on him.

If the election were held today, Obama would lose by at least 10 points and would carry only about a dozen states with fewer than 150 electoral votes.

And the Republicans would keep their Senate seats in Arizona, Texas and Nevada while picking up seats in Virginia, Florida, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri and Montana. The GOP will also have good shots at victory in the Senate races in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and — if Chris Shays wins the primary — Connecticut. Only in Maine are their fortunes likely to dim.

The journalists in the mainstream media, who are not politicians and have never run campaigns, do not realize what is happening. The Democrats, as delusional in 2012 as they were in 2010, are too much into their own euphoria to realize it. But America is sharply and totally rejecting Obama and all he stands for and embracing Romney as a good alternative. While few are saying these words, they are the truth.

BOTTOM LINE:  BUSINESS DEPENDS A LOT ON THE RULES AND COSTS IMPOSED BY GOVERNMENT, BUT SUCCESS IS MORE BASIC THAN THAT:

Government should not drive your competitive strategies (unless government is your primary or secondary customer), but it has to be considered, and "managed around."  First, find or figure out something that fills a need, that people want to buy; then tell them about it; next obtain it, make it and deliver it cost competitively at the right time, at the right place and at the right cost/price; concentrate on superb customer service, and finally, examine your results and adjust and do more of what worked and less of what didn't.  And don't let complexity sneak up on you, either.

Pay attention to your cost of capital and working capital, because if you don't earn more than your cost of capital you are liquidating the business a piece at a time, and if you run out of working capital (operating cash) you will be unable to survive for very long.  And once you are about out of it, getting more is devilishly hard and expensive.  Finally, aim for big targets,  but be happy with a series of small successes--and understand why those happened--and do more of it.  That is how growth, and jobs are created  in any country, but especially in the USA!  There you have an MBA--in two short paragraphs.

CAN BUSINESSES GROW IN A STAGNANT, LOW GROWTH PERIOD--LIKE NOW?

Absolutely, YES.  However, it takes considerable skill, wisdom and fortitude (guts) to believe it is possible and discern how to do it.  There are some excellent books around, including "Blue Ocean Strategy" by Kim and Mauborgne, that describe how to find the areas of markets (the "blue ocean areas") that have not been exploited.  Genuine innovation sells--just look at Apple.  Market dominance sells--look at amazon.com.  Superb customer service sells--consider Southwest Airlines (and its new acquisition AirTran).  Powerful recreation sells too--whether it is movies, or books, or music (Harry Potter books and movies, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, the Hunger Games books and movie, and the Twilight series along with numerous best selling authors, and musicians too numerous to mention.

Better products sell too: consider Corelle dinnerware, a product with which I am very familiar.  It is a true 3 layer glass dinnerware with the pattern fired into the glass so it never fades. Corelle is incredibly light, AND it is chip and break resistant too--AND it can stand up to the heat of most ovens and microwaves (but not stove-tops). Corelle is a worldwide best-seller--a great product.  (Disclaimer:  I am a board member of the company that makes and sells Corelle.)

HOW DO YOU FIND THESE "WINNERS?"  LOOK HARD…INSIGHTFULLY…AND CREATIVELY:  IMAGINE NOT WHAT IS, BUT WHAT COULD BE

Who imagined the enormous power and capabilities of an iPhone ten years ago?  Or an iPad?  They would have been considered impossible, imaginary dreams or futuristic gadgets.  They are now selling in the tens of millions.  Derivations of current products are harder to ride to success:  hybrid cars, even battery operated cars, are incremental improvements that cannibalize the older, proven technology.  High-Definition TV caught hold, and is now undergoing incremental improvements, but no quantum leaps.  What will be the "Next Big Things?"  The interface between humans and electronics is crumbling.  Expect medical diagnosis via devices like enhanced iPhones and WiFi connections with Doctors.  Most of the tests done in a common doctor's visit could be done remotely.  Visual examination of many things, monitoring and perhaps even treatment?  Certainly integrated prescription ordering with automatic drug interaction checking--if you create your own version of a Facebook page for your medical information and treatment.

HOW ABOUT ENHANCED SECURITY MEASURES TO PROTECT ALL THAT VITAL INFORMATION ALREADY OUT THERE

There must be many ways to encrypt it, to protect it, and to render it useless in all but the authorized sets of hands and eyeballs.  The biggest downside of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. is that of privacy--or lack thereof.  Somebody, somehow, sooner rather than later will hack these, or sell the content, or both.  Perhaps they will use it for illicit purposes too.  It scares the hell out of me.

THAT'S ENOUGH FOR ONE WEEKEND; THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS;  JUST LET YOUR IMAGINATION WANDER

Or better yet, spend some time with a 7 year old, a 15 year old, and any number of youth that are a fraction of your age.  If the adult in you doesn't stifle them you will see a world of creativity beyond your fondest imagination.  Remember the now famous words of my old friend Steve Goubeaux:  "If you don't go, where you don't go, you won't know, what you don't know."  Drive to work a different way; read magazine and web sites and blogs you never normally read; watch TV or movies you normally ignore; eat at places you've never been--or even imagined going.  And then talk to strangers…they will tell you the darnedest things.  

BUT AMIDST IT ALL, RUN EVERYTHING THROUGH THE SCREEN OF YOUR JUDGEMENT, YOUR EXPERIENCE AND YOUR KNOWLEDGE

Filter out the junk and there will be more than enough good stuff left to innovate for a long time.  AND don't compromise your values in doing so--because there are a lot of bad people and a lot of bad stuff out there too.  Duck it, dump it, bury it, and move on.

Obama and Romney Tied with Registered Voters, Romney has Slight Edge among Likely Voters, According to New American Pulse™ Analysis   Lack of Confidence Likely to Prove Challenging for the Incumbent   WORTHINGTON, OH – 5/3/12 – President Obama and Mitt Romney are tied with Registered Voters, according to a recent analysis of the latest American Pulse™ Survey (APR-12, N=3,666). If the election were held today, 39.7% would cast a ballot for the incumbent, while 39.3% would choose the challenger. Romney has a slight edge among Likely Voters with 41.5%, compared to 40.8% for the President.   In what’s expected to be a closely contested battle, the key to the election will likely be Undecided Voters. Studies have shown that typically those who haven’t made up their mind break for the challenger, making President Obama’s bid for re-election more difficult. ON "LEGITIMACY:"  AFTER GETTING MY FORBES POST PULLED FOR SUGGESTING THAT THE PRESIDENT IS AN IMPOSTOR--(Either in fact or at least figuratively speaking, as a "pretender" who is unqualified to hold the office.) 

I keep getting things like this, which have been circulating on the Internet for a long time. Are these fabrications?  Or are they true?

"FACTS ARE STUBBORN THINGS " said  MItt Romney quoting John Adams.  The question is what facts are the true facts. 

WHO IS THIS MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE?  Why won't this stuff go away?  

 If there is this much "smoke," is there a "fire" somewhere?"  Aside from the forensic graphic experts who cite the president's "birth certificate" as a forgery--a fake--there are these inconvenient facts to consider.

The Plot Thickens:  HOW ONE GETS A REASSIGNED SS NUMBER 

(NOTE: source unknown)

An intensive investigation has revealed the identity of the man whose Social Security number (SSN) is being used by President Obama: Jean Paul Ludwig, who was born in France in 1890, immigrated to the United States in 1924, and was assigned SSN 042-68-4425 (Obama's current SSN) on or about March 1977.  Ludwig lived most of his adult life in Connecticut. Because of that, his SSN begins with the digits 042, which are among only a select few reserved for  Connecticut   residents.

 

Obama never lived or worked in that state! Therefore, there is no reason on earth for his SSN to start with the digits 042. NonE  whatsoever!   Now comes the best part! Ludwig spent the final months of his life in Hawaii, where he died.  Conveniently, Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, worked part-time in the Probate Office in the  Honolulu Hawaii Courthouse, and therefore had access to the SSNs of deceased individuals.  The Social Security Administration was never informed of Ludwig's death, and because he never received Social Security benefits there were no benefits to stop and therefore, no questions were ever raised.

 

The suspicion, of course, is that Dunham, knowing her grandson was not a U.S. Citizen, either because he was born in  Kenya   or became a citizen of  Indonesia upon his adoption by Lolo Soetoro simply scoured the probate records until she found someone who died who was not receiving Social Security benefits, and selected Mr. Ludwigs Connecticut SSN for Obama.  Although many Americans do not understand the meaning of the term "natural born" there are few who do not understand that if you are using someone else's SSN it is a clear indication of fraud.

“Very Interesting Bit of Detective Work” RE: THE OBAMA "LIVE BIRTH CERTIFICATE" 1.   Back in 1961 people of color were called 'Negroes.' So how can the Obama "birth certificate" states he is "African-American" when the term wasn't even used at that time? 2.   The birth certificate that the White House released lists Obama's birth as August 4, 1961. It also lists Barack Hussein Obama as his father. No big deal, right? At the time of Obama's birth, it also shows that his father is aged 25 years old, and that Obama's father was born in "Kenya , East Africa". This wouldn't seem like anything of concern, except the fact that  Kenya did not even exist until 1963, two whole years after Obama's birth, and 27 years after his father's birth. How could Obama's father have been born in a country that did not yet exist? Up and until Kenya was formed in 1963, it was known as the " British East Africa Protectorate". 3.   On the birth certificate released by the White House, the listed place of birth is "Kapi'olani Maternity Gynecological Hospital ". This cannot be, because the hospital(s) in question in 1961 were called "KauiKeolani Children's Hospital" and "Kapi'olani Maternity Home", respectively. The name did not change to Kapi'olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital until 1978, when these two hospitals merged. How can this particular name of the hospital be on a birth certificate dated 1961 if this name had not yet been applied to it until 1978?
