SOME GREAT ANALOGIES AND LESSONS FROM AN EXPERIENCED RESOURCE

LESSONS FROM MARCH MADNESS by Rebecca Morgan
Those who know me know that I am a sports fanatic, especially college basketball and March Madness. Like most, my bracket was busted on the first Thursday of the tournament, and blown apart by the end of that first weekend. So what have we learned?
1) Great teams can beat great players
They don't always, but they frequently do. And a great team with a few great players who understand their roles? Unstoppable.
2) Great teams have very good coaches
Not many of us would be willing to have our professional futures depend on the performance of a bunch of 17-21 year-old kids who've been told how great they are since birth. Getting the attention of those young men and convincing them to trust their teammates and focus on team success over individual performance can't be easy. But the best teams have coaches with that ability to give and demand respect, listen and convince, and most of all, select players with needed skill sets and develop those required for team success.
3) Experience counts, but only for so much
The Final 4 involved two teams with coaches new to this pressure cooker, and two who have felt it before. Monday's final game showcased one of each. Great coaches can lead through unfamiliar circumstances by putting players in a position to succeed, and by focusing on what is familiar over what is different. It's still basketball.
Customer decisions to do business with you, or not, are an agglomeration of "one and done" business decisions. You won't win every one, but you must win enough of them to be in the tournament every year.
Build a team focused on overall success more than individual records, led by coaches who know how to lead in both familiar and unfamiliar circumstances, and don't think for a minute that your incumbent role can't be overcome by the new kid on the block.

SO MUCH FOR TRANSPARENCY IN THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION
Obama promised the most transparent administration in history, but in fact it is likely to be the least transparent. Anything he wants hidden is buried in layers of bureaucrats or defended as being a national security problem. AP reported that freedom of information (FOIA) requests DENIED in 2013 were up to 8,496, a 57% increase over 2012 and more than double Obama's first year in office--and worse than George Bush's.

MANY SAY THAT AMERICA IS LEANING HARD SOCIALIST UNDER BARACK OBAMA'S IMPERIAL REIGN
I agree with that opinion. Obama grew up at the knew of Socialists, Communists, and revolutionaries, thus its no wonder his entire mindset is dominated by those failed ideologies. Now Obama can't grasp why he is failing, and even why he is failing to please his natural constituents. This series of conundrums might help explain that:
Why Obama can't satisfy his constituents ever!
1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
The six contradictions of socialism in the United States of America:
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
Editor's Note: And that list pretty much sums up the USA's problems here in the 21st Century. The leader can't lead, and if he does, he can't manage, and if he does, his ideologies are flawed and destined to fail. Unfortunately, there is no simple way to fire him….at least not for another two-plus years. Sadly, many of the poor deceived fools and ideologues who chose and voted for him are likely to do so again.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOCIALISM AND RACISM
Sometimes the definitions get mixed up, but not in this era of Obama-ism. Here is a startling example of what America's minority youth are being taught…both at home and by their president.
A young (minority) kid asks his mother, "Mama, what's Socialism and what is Racism?"
"Well, son, Socialism is when working folks work every day so WE can get all our benefits, you knows like free cell phones, rent subsidy, food stamps, free healthcare, utility subsidy, that's Socialism ".
"But mama, don't those folks get pissed off about that? "Sure they do, that's called Racism!"

AND YET, AMERICAN MANUFACTURING IS HAVING A RESURGENCE--IN SPITE OF THE POLITICAL CLIMATE
America's competitive position is improving due to a combination of technology, automation, energy abundance (fracking), and the increasing costs of developing countries as they "develop." e.g., China must deal with deadly increases in pollution, a shortage of skilled workers in the areas where they are needed, and a continuing pressure to behave like a part of the global trading community.

TRUE, ANDY ROONEY WAS PART OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA (CBS), BUT HE'S GONE NOW
The mainstream media used to report the news (Kronkite, Huntley/Brinkley, et. al.), with only a moderate amount of human/political bias—not a big liberal agenda.
That's gone now. So, while emerging news media comes to life (like BrennerBrief.com, where I write weekly), we will revisit some of Andy Rooney's oldies but goodies.
Rooneyisms - Too good not to share!!

I've learned... That life is tough, but I'm tougher.
I've learned.... That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.
I've learned.... That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
I've learned.... That I wish I could have told my Mom that I love her one more time before she passed away.
I've learned.... That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.
I've learned..... That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
I've learned..... That when your newly born grandchild holds your
little finger in his little fist, that you're hooked for life.
I've learned.... That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.
I've learned.... That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.
